 5008     case

Brunton 5008 Pocket Transit with lightweight composite outer casing

The 5008 model makes use of the traditional transit measurement method. The composite body on the ComPro is ultralight and tough – this transit even floats!

Features:

  1. The precision NdFeB disc magnet provides very accurate readings and resists demagnetization.
  2. This magnetic needle can be balanced for use almost anywhere in the world.
  3. Induction dampening makes for a quick-settling needle.
  4. The sapphire jewel bearing allows for smooth needle movement throughout the life of the instrument.
  5. The needle lock button can lock or free the needle, depending on the model.
  6. The internal components are sealed with an O-ring for improved water and dust resistance.
  7. Each model is available in the Azimuth (0-360) format.
  8. Each comes with a protective leather case, perfect for carrying your Brunton in the field.
  9. The mirror enables sighting and measurement of bearings and vertical angles.
  10. Short and long sights give the user additional functionality and accuracy when shooting bearings.

5020a     20b

Brunton 5020 Standard Pocket Transit with aluminium outer casing

The 5020 model's body is CNC-milled and hard-anodized for simplicity and durability.

In addition to the 5008's 10 features listed above, the 5020 includes the following:

  • The flat bottom design with a non-slip silicon foot allows for low-angle strike and dip measurements.
  • An unobtrusive bottle opener that stays out of the way until needed.

5010a     5010b

Brunton 5010 Geo Pocket Transit with aluminium outer casing

The 5010 model can measure Dip angle & Dip azimuth at the same time.

In addition to the 5008's 10 features listed above, the 5010 includes the following:

  • The hinge dial allows for simultaneous measurement of dip & dip direction or trend & plunge on certain surfaces and orientations.
  • The lid opens to 220° and the hinge dial has indicators of which needle to read for plunge direction.
  • The flat bottom allows for easier dip angle and dip azimuth measurements at low angles.
  • Dual long-level bubbles allow the user to level the compass from the sides.
  • The needle can be set to lock automatically, ensuring accurate readings when the face of the instrument is not visible.

5012a     5012b

Brunton 5012 Axis Pocket Transit with aluminium outer casing

The 5012 Axis model can take simultaneous measurements of strike & dip, trend & plunge, dip & dip direction, and bearing & angle, making data collection faster and easier than ever.

In addition to the 5008's first 8 features listed above, the 5012 includes the following:

  • Unique dual axis hollow hinge allows for easy and intuitive measurements of any line or plane.
  • The lid rotates 360˚ around both axes, making measurements possible for any surface including overhangs. The lid can extend or create the measurement surface itself.
  • The default orientation of compass North makes this the only transit in the world that can measure strike & dip simultaneously. A simple rotation of the azimuth ring also allows simultaneous measurement of dip angle & dip direction if that is preferred.
  • A secondary axis of rotation and lid protractor allows simultaneous measurement of trend & plunge.
  • The hollow hinge/sighting tube allows for direct horizontal and vertical sighting measurements.
  • Hinge dial enables dip angle measurements and also serves as a versatile protractor.
  • Excellent contact and sighting measurement capabilities.
  • Dual long-level bubbles allow the user to level the compass from the sides and bottom.
  • The flat bottom allows for easier dip angle and dip azimuth measurements at low angles.
  • The needle can be set to lock automatically, ensuring accurate readings when the face of the instrument is not visible.
